i really love Soviet era photography equipment. When I started using the m42 mount, the Zenit Helios 44m-4 was my first lens. It was a Zeiss Sonnar copy with modern lens coating that made the images I took with it exceptional in color. The pictures had a distinct look that differed from Japanese and German designed lenses. Other brands that originate from the USSR (or East Germany) is Pracktica, Jupiter, and Industar (I think they were made in the same KMZ factory as the Zenit).
